DIY Programmable Pedal Loop Switcher Build (Part 5)
The DIY Programmable Pedal Loop Switcher is alive!
In this video I demo the Pedal Loop Switcher in all its true bypass glory and explain my progress and problem fixes.
This project has been a challenge but well worth the effort.
It has been hardware wise finished for at least two months and the programming is an on going progress as required at this stage.
I have been road testing the loop switcher on the pedal board I gig with and it has not let me down but it did require some programming alterations to render it user friendly.
With the programmable loop switcher pedal board dancing is a thing of the past during tonal transitions! This thing is staying on my board.
In the next video we will l...

DIY Tube/ Valve Guitar Preamp Schematic Diagram Run Through
Просмотров 9 тыс.7 лет назад
This is as close as I can get to the original schematic diagram of the Tube/Valve Guitar Preamp I built six years ago. I am sure I have drawn out the original circuit somewhere. It may well be a case of searching. The Guitar preamp circuit is based loosely on a Marshall JCM800 preamp. The JCM800 2204 circuit using the hot input is a straight forward uncluttered circuit and that appealed to me a...
Guess This Guitar Solo 1.

DIY Programmable Pedal Loop Switcher Build (Part 4)

The progress for this Loop Switcher project has been slow this time around due to other commitments and a few hurdles I have to overcome. But none the less I have finished wiring the signal path with the relays and also wired the front panel with LED's and switches ready to go with a shield I made up with strip board. Still have the Arduino Mega to mount and finish the connections to it. Also t...

From practice to lug out, I thought I would share what I do on the day my band has a gig and how I prepare my guitar and myself for the night ahead through to the actual gig. Part 1 covers my practice routine through to lug in. Part 2 will show set up to lug out with some live footage of us in action.

This is part 3 of a True Bypass 8 Loop programmable Loop Switcher that I am building. Switches are installed and layout is figured out. Most of the drilling is done now and I am starting the wiring phase. This project uses an Arduino Mega to drive it and will allow loops to be switched with one button press, which will be great for playing live when several effects need to be changed at once. T...
My Stratocaster Bridge Pickup Repair (Part 2)

The replacement pickup arrived and we look at the old vs the new pickup for physical differences. Take a measurement of the DC resistance and then install it into the pickguard and replace the rusty pickguard screws with new one's I had in stock. Then I restring the stratocaster and explain some different things I do with this particular guitar when restringing. Then I test it out with some noo...
Musicians Replies To Requested Songs They Don't Know

The things some musicians say at the spur of the moment are epic. Here are a few I have heard about when they don't know a requested song. It is bound to happen to everyone sooner or later you get to the end of the night everything has gone well and the crowd is half tanked and dancing and somebody manages to ask the singer at the beginning of the last set for some obscure song that nobody know...

Removing the pickup was a straight forward operation and upon closer inspection the pickup coil is open ci...

That way you know what you sound like and where you need to improve. S...

9 year old video that explains the differences between fuzz, overdrive and distoration better than any other video I've watched. The oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer really nail the differences in the three "distoration" effects. Thanks for a great video.

This vid might be "boring and low production value" to some but it explained the EXACT differences a thousand times better than any other flashy vid I've seen. The scope and graphs REALLY do the trick. I saw it once and will never forget the differences between these effects now. Thank you so much for posting this! I learned more in just a few minutes, than hours with other vids.

One technical note: The MIDI/RRC switch on the back doesn't have anything to do with using a GK2 or GK3 pickup. It's there to let you choose between having the MIDI IN port active or the RRC (Roland Remote Control) port, into which you could plug an old FC-100 foot controller.

Great video, Unfortunately I cannot do this with Cubase elements. Kind of crap really that I have to put up with the crackles I get after a few minutes of playback. I find the only way is to shut down the program and re-start it and then its ok again for the next 10 mins.

I might be wrong but the aluminium does not allow the magnetic field through. Aluminium only allows the magnetic field to flow around it not through it. So it probably antenuates the guass a bit in certain directions therefore reducing certain parts of the magnetic field signal. I should really check up a bit but this I remember from the MPI course I have completed many times over the years. Interesting stuff though.

I did this to a guitar that I hated the imbalance of the neck and bridge PUs. After some experimentation and learning, I goth them both sounding great and balanced just by adjusting the PU heights and pole piece heights. This really works folks! Try it, it just might save you money and make you happy with your PUs.

The only missing thing here is to have an all ture bypass pedals like 3 true bypass pedals.. Its kinda bias experiment man.the only solution of vplume drop is put an EQ pedal to the end of the chain. I've tried it coz I have 16 or more boss pedals in my board.

Pretty much why after 30+ years of playing I have instinctively gravitated towards natural tube overdrive by either pushing the head room of an amp or using undersized speakers. The oscilloscope analysis just confirms what my ears are hearing. Though one of the metal sounds I got was my mid 80s solid state Princeton amp mic'd off my 60w Peavy tube amp. With a hot rails bridge pup installed on my 83 Telecaster. That is something this video didn't analyze is layered soundscapes

Like mixing music, the many factors determine the final outcome. But can you hear 1 instruments slight difference in frequency in a mix of 32 tracks with effects and processing. If you have spent your whole life listening, then yes you will key in on the super small details. Imho Tone Wood does effect the sound enough for someone with long exposure to critical listening experiences. As a mixer and guitarist I can hone in on a tiny variation in a live mix or studio mix with a minute. I feel with effects and processing I can also do this with guitar just as easily. Now this skill is a learned 45 years of playing and listening skill. But your test as well as an FFT test video clearly show they way the microphone/pickups/strings are effected by the body’s mass and make up. Nice Job of making not only a clear video of it, but using a blind test to further illustrate how much difference. Does it matter to most people? Can most people tell… I would say no. Does it matter to me and can I hear it? Can I hear the change in my studio after using dampened materials? Yes I can, is it subtle? Yes! Does it matter Yes! If your craftsmanship requires you to listen and you care to listen that closely then it’s vital to you. If it doesn’t then, don’t concern yourself with it and play on!
